Power failure is
all but an impossible thing to avoid.
And the ability—if we can call it that—of homes and industries to do it,
was only made possible through the help of portable power or heavy-duty pickups. Surely, the invention of the power inverter
and solar energy made our lives much easier on a larger scale.
But if we have to
choose between the two dependable power supplies, which is the better pick?
Without doubt, we will choose the one that performs best and that which goes
for a lower price. While both are
essential in performing most day-to-day tasks, one is better than the other in
some areas. The main difference between
the two is that the solar generator
creates electrical power through exposure to sunlight for a regulated amount of
time; whereas a power inverter provides power through an existing source of
electrical energy, thus, the inability to produce power on its own. It changes DC (direct current) to AC
(alternating current). In the physical
form, solar generators commonly come
in bulky and heavy forms. They were
originally pictured as industrial and space consuming. Power inverters, on the other hand, are
commonly portable and compact. But there
are also inverters available on the market for industrial purposes.
As to their readiness,
it is important to remember that power inverter is the more applicable one, as
it doesn’t depend on sunlight. In
countries like the UK, where the weather is usually “sunless” and cool, it is
least possible and advisable to depend on solar power. If this is the case, how much less can it
function in countries where it usually rains almost the whole year through? Needless to say, in countries like these,
power inverters are more likely to be depended on as they operate easily with
car batteries. Moreover, solar generators are typically priced
higher than power inverters as the former require more sophisticated engineering,
and appearance. As regards to
maintenance, power inverters get the top position as they are less complicated
and less sensitive.
